The Heavenly Zoo is the product of what organically developed into an extended writing and recording project. For 8 or 10 years, I went to Bruce Bentley’s place most tuesday nights and we wrote and recorded songs. Through the birthing of children, the wavering of fortunes, the divorcing of wives, we doggedly carried on. These songs come from those nights. And those were creative, exploratory and even intimate nights, although not in the way you’re thinking. Most of the instruments are either guitar or guitar synth, played by Bruce. Yes, even the timpani, piano, skidoo... Generally the lead vocal is Cam and backup vocals are Cam and Bruce. But there are some refreshing exceptions.
